For this years charity motorcycle ride, Associated Builders and Contractors chose to support the fight against Autism by joining forces once again with one of our members causes, Sahara Cares. The Sahara Cares organization has raised thousands of dollars to combat Autism through their annual Autism Carnival. This gives the children and their families a great opportunity to get out and enjoy a day in the sun.
For the almost 50 riders that joined us this year, the day couldn’t have been better. We started at the Sahara cares carnival at Wheeler Farm and headed up East Canyon. We were treated to spectacular views and some truly technical riding on the tight roads and sharp turns. One of the obstacles we almost ran into was a banana peel left right at the apex of a switch back on the assent to East Canyon reservoir. Having made it past that the rest of the ride was a breeze.
We then joined the rest of the folks at the Sahara Cares Carnival for Bratwursts and Cheeseburgers. It was fun watching the kid’s faces as the big mean bikers joined them in their carnival games with smiles on their faces and love in their harts. Many a young child was lifted up to sit on some truly beautiful bikes, and once again it was not at all surprising to see these big burly bikers with tears in their eyes. To top it all off the ride was led by 4 Utah Highway Patrolmen who pulled into Wheeler Farm with lights and sirens going full blast and it turned out to be a highlight for the children present.
We were able to raise almost $2,000 thanks to all of the riders and sponsors such as;
Big-D Construction R and O construction Jack B. Parson
Wadman Construction Steel Encounters Skill Staff
Sahara Construction Associated Builders and Contractors of Utah
Thanks to all for their support of this great cause and we look forward to riding with you next year.
