The Utah Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) continued its community involvement efforts recently by teaming up with Your Community Connection in Ogden to provide ‘Back to School’ clothes and book bags for 40 very needy students. At our recent annual summer golf tournament ABC raffled off tickets for various prizes donated by ABC member firms. ABC members purchased over $1,500 worth of raffle tickets with all proceeds going directly to support the purchase of gift cards to Old Navy so the kids could purchase a new outfit for the all important first day of school. ABC also worked with Sahara Cares, a division of Sahara Inc, and was able to get book bags full of various school supplies donated by the LDS Church, for each child as well. Finally, members of ABC’s PR & Community Involvement Committee spent an afternoon hosting a BBQ for the children and their parents where all of the goodies were presented to each student. ABC would like to thank all of our member volunteers for their hard work, who helped make this special event a great success, as well as the participants at our annual golf tournament, nearly 250 golfers, whose generosity made the entire ‘Back to School’ Charity Event possible. Each student involved in the programs at the YCC walked into school the first day with new outfits, a variety of new school supplies and their heads held high thanks to the efforts of all of our wonderful members, who once again helped make a positive difference in the lives of each student.
